Self-esteem
= Who I am!
Self-confidence = What I do!
You can hear it from the word; you have to give it to your
self. It means to have the courage to dare challenging myself
to succeed and fail without loosing faith in myself.
If I have a strong self-esteem I will know my needs, dare
to express them, and more importantly make sure they are
being satisfied.
If I have a strong self-esteem I will automatically
get a strong self-confidence. However, the most common thing
today is that we have a strong self-confidence and insufficient
self-esteem which becomes most evident when we face adversity.
All form of knowledge allows for improved self-confidence.
More important though, is to make sure self-esteem gets
some nourishment. To love myself for the one I am and feel
that I am good enough is extremely important. Everyone
has the ability to improve one's self-esteem - IF you
just want to and dare
No coach/leader can give you improved self-esteem or increased
self-confidence, but the coach can, together with all team
members, create a good environment; one within which
you can develop and grow and where there is a focus on giving
feedback about who you are, not what you perform.
The big task for the Coach/Leader is to give everyone
space and opportunities to gain knowledge that leads to
a constant stream of new challenges.
