After the picture has been determined it is of vital importance,
in order for us to reach it, that every member of the team
"owns" it. It can't be the boss or the company's
picture but MY PICTURE. Not until then will I take my personal
responsibility for reaching it.
Now we arrive at the critical point of the work; an analysis
of the current situation needs to be done. Where am I? Where
are we? The analysis need to include honest and true viewpoints,
not flattering or distorted. This is difficult but it is
an absolute essential requirement in order to make the correct
decisions later on.
In this process, nothing but facts should be the base of
the analysis. The difficulty in this stage of the process
is to avoid the temptation of focusing on flattering descriptions.
Excuses and half-truths cannot be allowed to influence the
analysis.
When the picture has been determined and we have
made a proper analysis, we have identified
the gap and need to make one or more measures to reach our
picture.
